color=Red]The following is my opinion and the way I train my 'tiels. Remember each bird and owner have their own technique.[/b][/color]

Taming
There are many ways to tame an untamed parrot. Below are some ideas.
1. Never grab an untamed b ird without a glove or something on. They do bite hard!
2. Take him out of the cage and place them in a safe room with the door closed and keep a good eye on him.
3. It helps if you first get his wings clipped so he doesn't fly around and get hurt.
4.Try to get him to come over to you with a treat.
5. talk to him gentley and inch you finger up to him. Hold it still and see if he steps up.
6. Never chase him with your hand or frighten him. This will give him a bad idea about your hands.
7. Lastly, if all else fails grab him with a towel. Once he calms down try to pet his head. This is the easy way to get him to not think of you as a threat.
If anyone has any questions just reply to this thread!
sincerely, BirdBrain

Oh #6 is a very good idea, when I was not experienced, I grabed a tiel to pull him out of his cage, he took a nice hunk out of my finger..I learned a lesson real fast..
